Lovely restaurant and good food.

Attention to details... Amazing service, condiments, balanced portions, and even better food. I got their signature hu tieu nam vang (Phnom penh noodles) which is a seafood pork bones broth with seafood and pork and crunchy pork chicharrons. You can get it with broth and noodle (egg or rice or combo) separate. Can't wait to try the other things in their menu like the snails cooked in salty egg yolk sauce or the wild boar in curry

Lovely spot! Tasty food with a number of rarer dishes to find (at least based on availability where I'm from). Quite enjoyed the oxtail hue soup, and look forward to trying the snails next time!

Gao Vietnamese Kitchen offers a delightful experience with fresh, authentic flavors and a cozy atmosphere. Bun Bo Hue is a must-try, and the service is always friendly and prompt. A great spot for anyone craving delicious Vietnamese cuisine! Highly recommend!

BBH portion was small, especially for the price, but the taste was great. Had to add a lot of sate to get it spicy, but the base broth is good for those with milder tolerances. Service was very kind and prompt and the space is clean. I'd love to see larger portions in the future! Would come back

This is the closest hủ tiếu nam vang taste of vietnam I have tried so far in Boston area. Believe me, that is how rare around here for Vietnamese food. So this means, you will get good food here. PS: Hủ tiếu nam vang is clear broth pork soup with rice chewy noodles. The toppings are pork intestines (optional). This is a variant of southern noodle soup influenced Cambodian cooking.

It's been a while since I've seen a menu without the "signature" dishes typically expected in a Vietnamese restaurant like pho or grilled meat vermicelli. And it impressed me a lot. The bánh bột lọc was superb! I dare to say even better than the street food banh bot loc I had in Hanoi. Bun bo Hue was flavorful, and what pleasantly surprised me the most was the Chao long! I didn't expect to find this dish in the US at all at a reasonable price. A healthy amount of intestines and good portion. The chicken salad would be better if the meat was more firm. Overall, amazing experience! The atmosphere and service was pleasant was well

Second time to Gao and yet disappointed again as their specialties are sold out. I tried their hu tiu the first time, bun mam this time and both are delicious! Good portion size and service is attentive.

The hủ tiếu nam vang was very good, flavorful, good toppings variety. Organs didn’t smell, which is great. Bánh cuốn was fine; filling was a little under seasoned. I would prefer if it was warm. Service was great, everyone was nice and attentive.

Just... WOW! The main dishes on the menu here were mostly unfamiliar (which checks out with other reviews that state this is typically home cooking). This was the very best Vietnamese food I've ever had and it makes me wish I lived in the area. Server was extremely courteous and able to give me suggestions based on gluten free and my preferences. The cha gio were to die for, well made, very hot, perfectly rolled, and well filled with meat and vegetables. The fish sauce dipping sauce wasn't watered down. I choose hu tiu suon non as my meal and it was a flavor sensation... rice noodles, different cuts of pork, vegetables, and a wonderful melding of spices. My only challenge was that the spare ribs are bone in, so I had to do a quick Google to figure out the polite way to eat them with my chopsticks. Tldr, if you're in the area, GO HERE.

After a week vacationing in Boston, I was craving Vietnamese food the entire time I was in Boston. Stumbling across this restaurant on Google and reading the rave reviews, thought why not give it a try. Staff was really friendly when I came in, and encouraged me to ask questions about the menu. I ended up choosing the Hue Beef noodle with pork knuckle. It was pretty good until I discovered that the pork knuckle wasn't cleaned properly, there was a copious amount of hair that should have been cleaned off prior to serving. Food came very fast and the restaurant was clean

First time walk-in order the hu tieu nam vang very delicious n fresh. 🤔👌🏼The egg roll come with the fish sauce um yummy.👏🏼

Good food

All I can say is wow. The food here is authentic, unique, and so delicious. All the dishes we got hit the spot. We usually go to pho hoa but wanted to try a new spot and I think Gao might be our go to viet restaurant now. Got to try banh coun for the first time. The chicken and banana blossom salad was so addicting I loved the sauce. They also give you free ice tea just like in Vietnam. 10/10.

The best viet food

This is the place you must visit if you want a taste of authentic central and Southern Vietnam. The snails, esp with garlic butter sauce, were amazing. With Bun Bo Hue (pork, beef, lemon grass, blood cubes, seafood meatballs to name a few ingredients) and Bun Mam (fermented fish and seafood soup and could be a bit strong for some ppl), these dishes brought me and my wife back to places that we haven’t visited back home for years… Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful experience here. Everything was delicious. We traveled the country often and we eat Vietnamese food everywhere. I had never encountered the drink of sugarcane and kumquat, that was amazing. You need to try some!

I was at my well trusted Car Alarm Systems Inc. getting work done when I inquired about a place for getting some good pho. They recommended Gao. Great choice! The service was immediate! I was greeted by the door and was lead to a table. It’s clean, well lit, and their food was delicious! Though one item was not available, I tried the clear dumplings and the beef rib soup. My word it’s good! Definitely coming back!

This is a new place on Dorchester Ave… very well staffed with friendly people. I had a pork rib soup. The broth was amazing. To start we had the spring rolls. Probably the best I have ever had. I also had a sugar cane kumquat drink that was delicious. Very affordable. Thank you

Great authentic Vietnamese noodles! One of the best in Boston area. Some must-try are Bun Bo Hue and Hu Tieu Nam Vang (both soup and dry version). They taste just like the ones in Vietnam. If you like Pho, give these a try and you’ll be pleasantly surprised!

Authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Dorchester. Ordered the mi hoanh Thanh (wonton noodles) and Bun Bo Hue. Very tasty broth and my viet gf said it's one of the best BBH she's had. The Chrysanthemum tea amd pandan green drink was very refreshing! Limited menu (didn't have Pho) but really good, Def give it a try.

Great Bun Bo Hue. Tasty Bun Mam (not too salty like other places and clear soup). Suger can juice is also great. Satisfied and recommended.

Bun Bo Hue is delicious. You will have to put some Sa te if you want spicy. To go service is nice. This is the first Vietnamese restaurant I have ever seen putting food in a bowl. Very convinent

New Vietnamese restaurant right on Dot Ave. Very clean inside and the staff are friendly!! I got their Hủ tiếu sườn non with shrimp and one order of Bánh bột lọc to go and oh my god. DELICIOUS. The spare ribs are just melt-in-your-mouth so good. Great portion too. Read in another review that their prices are higher than other nearby Viet restaurants because they import many of their ingredients from Vietnam to ensure high quality products. That to me justifies the price! Will be dining in with them next time.
